On October 08, 2024, at 8:00 a.m., an open scheduled lecture on the discipline “Architecture of Buildings and Structures”, which is implemented within the framework of the educational and professional program “Construction and Civil Engineering” for applicants for higher education of the first (bachelor’s) level, was successfully held on the ZOOM platform.

The lecture on “Floors and Ceilings” was delivered by Senior Lecturer of the Department of Architecture and Engineering Surveys Sergii Galushka. The educational component is an important element of the educational and professional program “Construction and Civil Engineering”. During the lecture, Sergiy Anatoliyovych revealed the state and prospects of development in terms of methods, ways of erecting building floors, their effective constructive solutions, and focused on the most complex and significant issues.

This event is planned and is a part of the educational process aimed at improving the education quality, providing modern knowledge and technologies, as well as integrating academic disciplines into the world practice. The lecture was attended not only by students, but also by lecturers and researchers of the university (Head of the Department of Architecture and Engineering Surveying Dmytro Borodai, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs Artem Borodai, Deputy Dean for Science Nataliia Sribniak, guarantor of the EPP “Civil and Bachelor’s Degree Program Lyudmyla Tsyhanenko, Deputy Dean for Academic Quality Oleksandr Tatsenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Architecture and Engineering Surveying Serhii Andrukh, and Specialist of the Department of Education Quality of SNAU Nadiya Baranyk.

The lecture provides an opportunity for students to develop professional skills in analyzing the factors indicating the degree of efficiency of a particular structural solution of the floor.

During the lecture, students were not only the audience, but responded actively to the lecturer’s questions. This form of lecture (with the elements of dialog) encouraged students to be active in the classroom. Students also participated in the final discussion of the lecture.

In order to analyze the factors indicating the degree of efficiency of a particular structural solution for a floor, a student must be able to collect, search, and apply diverse information, for instance, what factors affect the final cost of the floor solution. Among these factors there are the cost of construction materials, labor costs for the floor, logistics costs, etc.

The lecture has been highly praised by both students and fellow teachers. Holding such open classes allows us to improve the quality of education, increase students’ interest and integrate them into modern technological trends. In addition, the lecture serves as an example of successful communication between the scientific community and the educational process, which contributes to the professional development of future specialists in the construction industry.

We would like to express our gratitude to Senior Lecturer Serhii Galushka for an interesting, informative and useful lecture, which will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the training of specialists in the construction industry.
